Beautiful walk on the NC Art Museum grounds this morning (doesn’t feel much like winter actually, despite the cool & contrasty light).

Yesterday the friend who does my hair put in a bunch of highlights. Somehow I hadn’t noticed that it has gotten darker in the last few years. Feeling more like myself now that it’s blonde again. Funny how that works right?

In California this plant grows into huge rampant bushes, but it can’t over winter outside here with the lower temperatures so they sell them in pots so you can take them inside during the cold months. They look a little weird cramped into these baskets but I was so homesick for the bright, papery blossoms that we bought two at the end of the summer. This one is sitting in our front window and has just now produced flowers. A tiny reminder of home, looking at them makes me excited to be headed back there in just a couple short weeks.

I’ve been slowly adding new pieces to my online shop, including these organic cotton and hemp canvas clutches. If the color palette looks familiar, it’s because I threw some canvas into the dye baths along with the scarves, and I love how the colors translated.

My favorite style is the one I modeled after a paper bag…it just makes me smile. I’ll be making some more this week, I’m thinking I want one in the pearl/honey color combo above.

My hubby fell in love Friday night.

Meet Rosie, a 4 year old, very fat little pug and the newest member of our little crew. She makes the craziest noises, her tongue doesn’t fit in her mouth, she’s smart, sassy and sweet.

I am excited that The Handmade Market is coming up, this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s always really fun, and this time around the list of vendors is seriously drool worthy. Stop by if you are local, and looking to do some holiday shopping.

Hand dyed crinkle cotton scarves.

The fabric is smooth until it goes through the agitation and heat of the dye bath, during which the fibers shrink and crinkle up to form a textured gauze that is so pretty and soft.
